Utilizing Ripple’s XRP Ledger, the Dubai Land Department has launched a new tokenization platform for real estate as part of a government-led effort.
$16 billion worth of real estate assets could be brought onchain by 2033 as part of Dubai’s tokenization effort in partnership with Ctrl Alt’s infrastructure.
Ctrl Alt chose the XRP Ledger for the task, but why was Ripple’s XRP ledger chosen over other near-compatible networks?

Dubai has entered the real-world asset world with a large-scale tokenization effort of Dubai’s real estate, opening up an industry worth $16B.

The Prypco Mint platform will be used for real estate investments in Dubai properties with fractionalized ownership from 2,000 dirhams ($550) being available.
Dubai’s Prypco Mint platform is enabled by Ctrl Alt, a tokenization infrastructure firm that is utilizing the XRP Ledger for property deeds. According to Ctrl Alt, the XRP Ledger blockchain has been integrated into the Prypco Mint platform.
Ctrl Alt may have chosen the XRP Ledger for a myriad of reasons, including scalability, low costs, and existing institutional usage.
According to RWA.xyz, led by the Tokenized Asset Coalition, the XRP Ledger is listed within the top 10 networks being used for real-world asset tokenization.
Currently in 10th place, the XRP Ledger’s main RWA uses come from Archax fund tokenizations and the issuance of the RLUSD stablecoin, currently in competition with Circle’s USDC.
Tokenization of real-world assets bridge trillions to crypto networks
The tokenization of real-world assets has surged in popularity in 2025, with governments and institutions taking up the chance to find ways to bring real-world assets onchain.
The US government, according to Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, is eager to allow institutions to utilize regulated stablecoins.
For Bessent, trillions in value can be brought onchain and used efficiently thanks to blockchain technology.
