The President of Sri Lanka has met with Cardano Intersect Board director Kavinda Kariyapperuma to discuss how blockchain technology can benefit the region.

The Intersect Development Report was also shared alongside highlighting the work done by Coin Ceylon.

The news comes as Charles Hoskinson comments on the upcoming Midnight privacy chain and how it’s bringing technology from Aptos, ZCash, and others to make Cardano better.

President of Sri Lanka meets Cardano Intersect Board Director amid Cardano expansions

Cardano’s Intersect Board Director met with the president of Sri Lanka to discuss blockchain effectiveness in the region, potentially signaling to implementation of the Cardano network in Sri Lanka. 

Intersect is a community platform for the Cardano ecosystem, sustaining Cardano’s growth and involving partners in discussions on where the ecosystem can navigate.

Kavinda Kariyapperuma of Intersect hinted that more news could be ahead in regards to the meeting. 

In recent months, Cardano has pushed for greater outreach in nations outside of the West, including South America, Asia, and Africa

Most recently, in 2024, Cardano helped provide tamper-proof educational records in Ethiopia. Emurgo, a company based in South Africa, is helping bring Bitcoin liquidity to the Cardano network with BitcoinOS.

Charles Hoskinson shares thoughts on Midnight sidechain

These updates arrive as ADA founder Charles Hoskinson expands on the upcoming Midnight privacy sidechain, which is set to launch in 2025.

Once Midnight launches, 37 million wallets from multiple blockchain networks will be eligible for an airdrop from the Midnight team.

In a recent interview, Charles Hoskinson explained how the Midnight network is inspired by Aptos, Zcash, Polkadot, and more, aiming to push the Cardano layer 1 to new limits. 

Unlike Hydra, Midnight will focus on privacy, making transactions private and undiscoverable by public searches.

Use cases for such a network may come from institutions in need of a permissioned, private network for banking settlements with fast speeds and reliability.
