Dominic Williams, CEO and Chief Scientist of DFINITY, has unveiled Caffeine.ai (Caffeine), a new AI tool for Internet Computer.
Caffeine allows users to create applications and webpages by simply talking or typing out what they would like the AI to make for them.
The new app runs on-chain, introducing users to tamperproof applications that can be coded within seconds by simply talking into their smartphone or computer.
Caffeine AI: The Self-Writing Internet on ICP
On June 4, 2025. Dominic Williams presented a demo for Caffeine, a new AI-powered tool, part of the “self-writing internet” that allows users to make applications, webpages, and more within seconds with tamperproof protections.
The reveal took place at the DFINITY Foundation’s World Computer Summit in Zurich, Switzerland. Presenting the application, Dominic Williams called for the AI app to create a simple “smiley web page”.
After sending the message, Caffeine coded and presented a simple web page with a large smiley face to a live crowd.
Utilizing Caffeine, users will be able to take what’s been coded and deploy the app on the internet with tamperproof protections against potential malicious injections.
Dubbed by Williamas as a part of the “self-writing internet”, the DFINITY Foundation aims for Caffeiene to become a full-fledged tool for creating full-stack apps, allowing almost anyone to create apps by chatting with an AI bot.
On-chain AI app development made posisble with ICP
What makes Caffeiene more unique is the fact that the AI model and tool are run completely on-chain via Internet Computer (ICP) without the inclusion of wrappers or API’s running in the cloud.
On ICP, AI models run actions within a decentralized landscape, far from the usual centralized servers and data centres used for other AI models and tools such as Grok, Chat-GPT, or Stable Diffusion.
By not having centralized Amazon Web Services servers controlling how the AI model’s API is accessed, AI models on ICP are free from intermediaries and potential censorship rules from third parties, giving full control to users via ICP.

Unlike “vibe coding,” where people use tools like ChatGPT to make fast, easy apps with limited coding knowledge, Caffeine will create a type of coding whereby users are in active conversation with AI, making and updating applications via speech, a part of self-writing technology.
