How Hashgraph Can Power Switzerland’s e-ID and Drive HBAR Growth

How Hashgraph Can Power Switzerland’s e-ID and Drive HBAR Growth AllinCrypto October 8, 2025

Switzerland’s new electronic ID (e-ID) initiative is a step toward digitizing ID systems in the region, which The Hashgraph Group has supported.

The country’s approach emphasizes citizen control over data and secure, verifiable digital identities, tech that aligns perfectly with the products being developed by The Hashgraph Group, including solutions like IDTrust.

In a vote for e-ID’s, which passed a vote with 50.4% in favour, The Hashgraph Group, based in Switzerland, is ready to have its IDTrust product utilized, potentially leading to long-term ecosystem growth out for Hedera Hashgraph.

The Hashgraph Group’s Support of Switzerland’s e-ID

Switzerland’s digital ID system was designed to give citizens a way to verify their identity online without surrendering too much control to centralized authorities.

The digital ID system was rejected in 2021 after data concerns with citizens now wanting their data to be held by private, centralized companies.

Switzerland’s newly voted on e-ID system will require tamper-proof verification, data privacy by design, and interoperability with other digital systems, problems that IDTrust, a Hashgraph Group solution, can solve.

IDTrust leverages Hedera’s distributed ledger technology to create a form of self-sovereign digital identities (SSI). These identities can be cryptographically verified on the Hedera network, ensuring immutability and that they cannot be forged or duplicated.

Unlike traditional systems where a central database keeps personal data, IDTrust allows individuals to hold and manage their credentials individually, granting access to others only when it’s necessary.

The new system will be optional. Citizens will be able to keep using their Swiss national ID cards if they want, which are standard IDs for Swiss citizens.

For a system like e-ID, The Hashgraph Group’s own IDTrust product will allow verifications to happen instantly, with immutable proof of authenticity recorded on Hedera.

Stefan Deiss, Co-Founder & CEO of The Hashgraph Group, gave their support of Switzerland’s e-ID system on LinkedIn, saying:

“As a Swiss citizen interacting and transacting in an increasingly digital connected world, I will be voting 𝘆𝗲𝘀 for the government-issued Swiss electronic identity (e-ID), which upholds the values of data protection, privacy, and security, while Switzerland continues to maintain its global reputation for innovation and technological leadership.”

TransAct and the Future of Institutional Adoption

While IDTrust addresses identity and verification issues in the world, TransAct, another Hashgraph Group product, is focused on digital payments, digital signing, and the automation of crucial transactions.

TransAct extends Hedera’s core capabilities to the enterprise layer, enabling banks, corporations, and governments to digitally execute agreements and settle transactions in real time with verifiable trails.

TransAct also allows organizations to make payments on Hedera without having to directly interact with HBAR. Instead, Hashgraph will work in the background, utilizing HBAR, allowing firms to avoid having to reach into the network itself, web2-ifying the experience.

Synergy between IDTrust and TransAct is where Hedera’s broader value proposition shines. Digital identity verification via IDTrust combined with instant, trustless settlement with TransAct can create a complete infrastructure stack for institutional-grade applications

As more institutions deploy these products, each transaction, identity check can consume HBAR to pay for network fees and validation.

Organic network usage can be reached, expanding Hedera’s economic base beyond DeFi or NFT markets into mainstream government and enterprise adoption.

The Widder Implications for Hedera and HBAR

By aiming to support national digital identity systems with IDTrust, The Hashgraph Group is powering government-grade solutions, positioning Hedera as a backbone for trusted digital infrastructures.

Every new integration increases the number of verified users, on-chain records, and institutional participants.

If Switzerland successfully implements its e-ID with some form of The Hashgraph Group’s technology, it could accelerate Hedera’s adoption across Europe for other ID systems, not necessarily initiated by the government.

In essence, The Hashgraph Group’s ecosystem, led by IDTrust and TransAct, provides tools for a new digital economy where HBAR can benefit at some point.
