Algorand Reaches 3 Billion Transactions as Pera Payment Card Launches Beta AllinCrypto May 19, 2025
Algorand has reached a total of 3 billion transactions, all done with no downtime across its expanding blockchain network.
The 3 billion milestone was reached during a time when Algorand has become a go-to network for real-world asset tokenization and strong DeFi use cases.
The news comes as the Pera Payment Card launches its beta access in the UK and selected European countries.
Algorand marks 3B transaction milestone on eve of real-world asset expansions
The Algorand network has reached a milestone of 3 billion transactions. Upon reaching its new milestone, the network climbed the ranks of real-world asset networks, beating Stellar Lumens in RWA value momentarily.

Algorand is home to a vast ecosystem of strong decentralized applications and a community keen on witnessing further growth for the network.
The introduction of staking rewards pulled new users in from other blockchain networks, with now over 3,700 active nodes contributing to the decentralization and strength of the network.

Most recently, Algorand’s Pera Wallet launched its own everyday payment card with support from Mastercard, allowing users to make purchases in real-time using their payment card.
On the topic of payments, Algorand native USDC has been introduced to Crypto.com, allowing traders to swap USDC to and from the Algorand mainnet with ease at super-fast speeds.
Native support may also lead to greater usage of the Algorand network for bridging assets, leading to increased market cap of USDC on Algorand, an effect that may be seen on Hedera with its own native USDC bridge on Binance.
ALGO prepares for 6 billion transactions
Celebrating their 3 billion transaction milestone, the Algorand Foundation has proclaimed that the network is speeding up, not slowing down:
The first billion took 1,297 days. The second billion took 529 days. The third billion took 336 days. Algorand is speeding up, not slowing down.
Indeed, usage and new DeFi are still coming to Algorand, and with the appointment of Jennie Levin as Chief Legal & Operations Officer, Algorand is set to take advantage of a new pro-crypto US.
