Algorand Becomes Key Platform for Real-World Assets with Native mTBILL Integration AllinCrypto May 30, 2025
Midas has launched its mTBILL token as a native asset on the Algorand network, marking a significant milestone for Algorand and its participation in RWAs.
After long-term speculation, the tokenized certificate backed by short-term US treasuries is now available on-chain.
Each mTBILL token represents a share in a short-term US treasury bond with trading fees for the token worth less than a cent, combined with instant finality.
Algorand gains mTBILL token as network becomes a host to real-world assets
Midas’s mTBILL allows crypto retail investors and ALGO users to invest in treasuries without any required investment thresholds.

Access to treasury investments is usually restricted to institutional players due to high capital requirements. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund has a minimum investment threshold of around $5 million.
Choosing the Algorand network for native issuance of mTBILL tokens, Midas called ALGO an “energy-efficient, quantum-secure, single-layer blockchain.”
The Algorand Foundation recently shared proof of the first on-chain atomic swap involving the mTBILL token, whereby a $2 million trade between USDC and mTBILL was completed for $0.0004 in fees.
As of May 30, 2025, mTBILL is priced at $1.0259 with a 4.06% APY. While mTBILL is also available on networks such as Ethereum, Oasis, Base, Plume, Rootstock, and Etherlink, Algorand is one of the few networks where the token is issued as a native asset.
An eventful month for Algorand
May 2025 has been a busy month for Algorand and the Algorand Foundation. With the appointment of Jennie Levin as the Foundation’s new Chief Legal and Operations Officer, the network also recorded 1 million daily transactions.
With an increase of 108,000 new active addresses, Algorand also surpassed 3 billion in total transactions, coinciding with the release of the Pera Payment Card.
Algorand’s growth has been unrelenting throughout 2025, with the network launching staking rewards in January 2025. Algorand is positioning itself as a key player outside of DeFi, aiming to merge with institutional players.
