In a new convergence of music and artificial intelligence, composer A. R. Rahman has linked up with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on an ambitious project that’s related to Hedera Hashgraph.
The collaboration was solidified during Rahman’s visit to OpenAI’s San Francisco headquarters in July 2025, where the two possibly exchanged ideas on how technology could be used to amplify connections to music.
Vignesh Raja of the Hedera Foundation joined the meeting, confirming that Hashgraph and Hedera HBAR would be involved in the project titled Secret Mountain. But what is Secret Mountain on Hedera, and why is OpenAI involved?

Commenting on the meeting, A.R. Rahman posted on X/Twitter:
It was a pleasure meet @sama at his office …we discussed “Secret Mountain”, our virtual global band, and to empower and uplift Indian minds to use AI tools to address generational challenges and lead the way forward.
This new meeting highlights the growing dialogue between AI and blockchain tech innovators, with the Hedera Foundation aiming to involve AI more throughout the HBAR ecosystem.
For Secret Mountain, the project is a mysterious platform that blends animation, the metaverse, and global music into an immersive digital world.
Introduced in 2024 via a trailer released to YouTube, the project is still under wraps by the Hedera team, OpenAI, and others, with the latest news coming to investors on July 24, 2025.
According to recent revelations about the project, each character or “MetaHuman” in Secret Mountain can represent a musical persona from regions around the world, including India, China, and Africa.
Music avatars are dynamically powered by AI tools, allowing for interactions and real-time music production by users. Secret Mountain resembles a dynamic, global band that is based on the blockchain.
Rahman’s Good Fellas Studio and Qyuki Digital Media are behind the musical elements of Secret Mountain, with OpenAI covering AI, and Hashgraph possibly covering the blockchain elements as seen in recent images.

One of the most significant aspects of Secret Mountain is its integration with Hedera DLT. Vignesh Raja from the Hedera Foundation is connected to the project, supporting the intersection of blockchain and AI.
Reports suggest that wihtin the Secret Mountain ecosystem, Hedera will support avatar identity and digital ownership related to compositions and revenue sharing. Utilizing Hedera’s robustness and transparency, the project will ensure that revenue traceability is immutable.
Rahman called upon ‘chatgptindia’ in his most recent post on Secret Mountain, reaffirming the project’s connection to India, able to uplift Indian creators, utilizing web3.
News of the project comes as the Hedera ecosystem witnesses significant growth as active developers boom on-chain, elevating network activity close behind Chainlink.
The HBAR token has witnessed growth over the last month, with the token up +93% over the last 30 days, surging from lows of $0.14 to recent highs of $0.30.
