Sources believe the company aims to support the development of trusted digital infrastructures that can verify and share data securely across multiple stakeholders without centralizing all of the control.

From Vishal Talwar, executive vice president, chief digital and information officer of FedEx Corp:

“The digital transformation of global supply chains is inevitable. As supply chains become increasingly digital-native, trusted data must be shared and verified across many parties without increasing risk or centralizing control.

Hedera provides a neutral, enterprise-grade trust layer that enables verification at global scale, while allowing organizations like FedEx to continue building differentiated capabilities on top.”

FedEx would also benefit from utilizing distirbuted ledger technology as part of global supply chains, making cross-border interactions cheaper, faster and more durable.

Hedera’s enterprise-grade DLT provides a neutral trust layer designed for speed, security and scalable features that align with FedEx’s internaitonal needs and cross-border data coordination.

FedEx’s membership also leads to more legitimacy of Hedera’s enterprise capabilities and reinforces HBAR’s position as a token for future use cases and its aBFT network viable for global commerce.

Overall, FedEx will bring logistical expertise and data management insights into the council, which could shape real-world use cases of Hedera Hashgraph in industries that need supply chain transparency and interoperable digital documentations.

As global trade becomes increasingly AI-driven, trusted verification layers will be essential and FedEx seems to be aware of DLTs as a trust layer. FedEx’s involvement suggests Hedera could play a meaningful role in powering the next generation of digital supply chains.
